amish

I think Amish people are so interesting. Today we went to Shipshewana and bought some adorable things at adorable shops and took N on her first buggy ride. She was giddy and laughy and so darn happy I wanted to cry. Our driver was the same one that took A and I on a ride before we were married. I don't think he remembered us but I did! I asked him if he had electricity and he said no. I asked what he did when it got dark? I guess they have special lanterns. He has eight kids, 47 g kids and 13 g g kids. Apparently they get bored when it gets dark so head straight for the bedroom!! He used to be a farmer but has been driving the buggy for ten years. I wanted to ask "how do u wash your clothes? Where do u go to the bathroom?? Why can't you drive a car? Do you know what tivo is or internet? Have you ever heard of THE SITUATION? Do you know who lady ga ga is? Did u know that beyonce is prego? Since you have had some extra time on your hands do you know how many licks it takes to get the center of a tootsie pop?" But I didn't ask any of those questions...I just stared from the backseat at his suspenders and black hat wishing that I didn't know who THE SITUATION was and longing for the simplicity of all that is Amish.

hola

I have been a terrible blogger lately and I'm so sorry cyber space. Its just too hard to write down everything that we have been doing and all the people we've seen etc. I will tell you that yesterday my mom bought me three pair of fabulous shoes which I'm deeply in love with. One of which look like julia roberts hooker books on pretty woman yes!!!! There's also nothing like getting a diarrhea attack on a walk in the woods. You suck your butt cheeks together and then the goosebumps and sweating begins. Its really fun! Nora woke up at 615 today. I hate time changes. I hope she will be normal again someday. We were in indpls over the wknd and I went to my grandpas house. Its so weird to be back there wout my gma. Miss her terribly. We just left panera and I noticed a huge blue streak on my car door. People are idiots. People are fat here. Those electric carts at wal-mart freak me out. Here's an idea...walk! And maybe you wouldn't be so fat!! Last night I sat on the couch and watched the storm. No tv. No lights. Just nature. Can't express how much I miss certain things and smells. Gotta soak it all up now.

18 months

Dear Nora,
Today you are 18 mths old and I cannot believe it! You are 30 lbs and taller than most kids your age. Your hair reminds me of bozo the clown..I love it! You have your papas curls. You have all four eye teeth and four molars coming in which is a bit intense!! You are a parrot these days and repeat everything we say. You babble a lot..I wish I knew what you were saying. This mth we came to the usa and you did ok on the airplane. You are finally on a schedule after two weeks. Getting up at five am was super fun. You only want to be w me at all times which is a bit overwhelming but I know I will miss these days. Today we got your pic taken at the same place when you were 6 mths old and it made me want to cry!!!! Stop time please. You will forever be my tiny girl and I love you! Mama

eek!

Howdy. Amber ...if you are talking about her Jelly Shoes I got them at Gap Kids for like 7.99.

Okay, hi people. Seriously, it´s been chaotic around here. My bro and his family were here for over a week so N was having a lot of fun with her 3.5 yr. old cousin Charlie. It was so cute because she was saying ¨chawie¨ ¨chawie¨ My heart just melted..

Yesterday was our four year anniversary! I can´t believe how fast time has gone. We got take-out because unfortunately N is going through a crazy MAMA ONLY phase and it makes it difficult for us to leave her even for a second.......she is also acting...dare I say..SHY! AND I am dying because she keeps waking up 2 to 3 times a night. It´s killing me and I feel like I have a newborn again.......In Spain she sleeps 11 hours, never wakes up at night..so this is kinda strange. I think she might be teething?

I also had to go out and buy some pampers today because apparently huggies suck. The past two days she woke up from her nap soaked with pee. Awesome!

We´ve been seeing and doing as much as possible and I absolutely hate how fast time goes! Trying to enjoy while we can!!

We went to ND to feed the duckies and N enjoyed it ...we also took our first boat ride of the season. yay! I am LOVING this weather!

too fast!

Time is officially going way too fast! I can´t even believe we have been here for over a week! I couldn´t even tell you what we´ve been doing because I feel like I´ve been living in a fog. Nora is finally sleeping until 7am. SCORE! Waking up at 5 was not fun at all! She´s right where I want her to be...superstar!

My brother and his family have been here from CT and are leaving tomorrow..it´s been so cute watching her play with 3.5 year old Charlie. He would be a great big bro..he takes very good care of her!

We´ve been to the zoo, beach, pool, lake, mall, playgrounds etc. She´s a natural at T ball and don´t forget those garage sales. We already bought a super fun slide and cart.

It´s been fun to see old friends. The other night our childhood babysitter called us because her whole family was over..how WILD was it to see Nora playing in the same swing-backyard that I played in when I was little...TOO WEIRD! I also took her to the park yesterday where my dad used to take me when I was little. It´s just surreal having my own child there.

Anywho, here are a few pix of the journey´s we´ve been on....

We made it!

We are officially on US soil!

All in all, not too shabby.

The hardest part was being so tired. A and I had a wedding the night before and got home at 1am and had to leave the house at 530am..so I slept about an hour by the time I got all the last minute packing done etc.

I also HATE to wake a sleeping baby. I think the last time I had to wake Nora up was for our trip LAST summer...she usually wakes up at 930 and I had to wake her up at 515. Not so fun, but she was like " what's up?" Did not phase her.

So, flight left Sevilla at 7am and it's only a quick 45 minute flight to Madrid. Bad thing is we had to wait four hours there. N slept in her stroller for about 2 hours..score!

We got REALLY lucky on the flight because we got the bulkhead and N ended up getting her own seat because no one was there. THANK YOU LORD! I did end up giving her infant dramamine but I dont even think that made her as sleepy as I thought it would. She only slept a total of three hours...boo! I was hoping for like...8! ha. She did okay though..just tried to entertain her, walk with her down the aisles and of course she made lots of friends along the way.

We then had to drive home two hours to IN and she was really over that!

Trying to keep her on the same schedule, just at different times here. Things are so different in Spain as far as the hours we eat etc. Wake up times so far:515, 545, 630. My goal is have her sleep at 8pm til 7am. Almost there! Not too bad after only three days.

So far we've been to the pool which she loves of course and now her cousin Charlie is here to play with until next week!

Thanks for thinking of us!

USA!!!!!!!
