It´s still May 29th somewhere...

I remember writing a piss poor birthday card in Spanish (which I might even be able to find if I look hard enough). A was turning 28 and I was 21. Oh, to be 21 again. We went for ice-cream. Nothing major and then we strolled along the cathedral and there was a man playing the violin. It was getting dark and the moon was full. It was the beginning of something...of something bigger than I could have ever imagined. Moving away from my country, my family, my comfort and my home all because of those butterflies. Because of love. Because of you. Happy birthday to my love, Antonio. You must have made an impression on me. Has it really been a decade? I think we look hotter today! ha! Te quiero mucho!

Hot and Bothered

It´s been in the 90s and in general I´m just a cranky cranky pants. I get so irritable and annoyed at the world when it´s this hot. And I´m tired. Yesterday a mosquito woke me up at 4:30 a.m. buzzing in my ear. I can´t think of anything worse. And I couldn´t find the little bugger AND I couldn´t get back to sleep. UGH! Thankfully some of my classes are finished after this week, but the majority of them finish around the end of June so it´s HOTTTTTTTTTTT when I ride my bike. Oh well, I guess it´s good for me. On a side note..Spanglish has become a normal part of our daily routine. Today´s phrase ¨Mucho Careful.¨ I like it. I´m gonna use it!

lil Picasso

I haven´t had a comment since March. Sweet. So, there´s officially nothing for kids to do here. Granted, I never wanted to be one of those moms who put her kids in yoga, karate, math, ballet, sky diving and supermarket sweep grocery shopping at the age of two, but going to the park a zillion times a day is getting a BIT old. I just wanted to mix it up a bit or at least have options. SO I just happened to stumble upon this art class for kids N´s age which is awesome since she LOVES to paint and color. She´s really not interested in anything else at the moment besides stamps, coloring, stickers, painting and more coloring. SO we went tonight and she loved it. It´s only every Wed for an hour so I think it´s perfect for her to be adventuresome and try something new. Of course today of all days she decided not to nap which made for some interesting moments but we made it through. Back to my previous point...I think parents are under so much pressure these days to HAVE THEIR KIDS INVOlvEd or BE IN SCHOOL at the time of birth. Well guess what? I wasn´t in crazy activities when I was little or have play dates every second. It was called playing outside in the grass, or the sandbox or the sprinkler and BEING A FREAKING KID! Did I mention the lady at the art place opened the door with a kid hanging from her boob (exactly Nora´s age) Maybe they were on the TIME cover? Anyways, yes I think it´s important for N to be around other kids but am I going to pay to put her in daycare (when I´m home most of the time) so she can ¨interact with other kids¨ um, no. I think she´s doing just fine Thank You Very Much!

27 Months.

Dear Nora. You are now 27 months old. You´ve actually been pretty good lately (knocking on wood as I type this) and I think you had more tantrums around a year and a half than you´ve been having lately. You are speaking quite a bit lately which cracks me up. The other day you came into my room in the morning and said ¨WAKE UP MAMA! I LOVE YOU.¨ It melted my heart. You know all the colors in Spanish and English, can count to twelve in Spanish and English and are very interested in the Alphabet and can name a few of the letters. According to Babycenter by 30 mths some kids can name A color. So this means you are OBVIOUSLY a genius. . . HA! You LOOOVE stickers, crayons, markers and coloring. You are SO not into dolls at the moment! You love playing with your blocks (stacking and saying ¨Look Mommy CASTLE!¨ puzzles..well, and anything else that gets you dirty. You are absolutely obsessed with the park and from the moment you wake you are already saying park, park, park, park park. Ok honey, I heard you! You like to repeat stuff... a lot! AND YES PEPPA PIG! We bought you a Peppa doll this month and you sleep with her every night. We left you alone with your grandparents for THREE whole nights and when we called you on the phone you were way too busy to chat with us. (We were in Malta) You HAVE to be covered up in your crib by TWO blankets (even though it´s super hot) and you also HAVE to be wearing your Peppa socks. You call milk ¨milak¨ even though I correct you every time and you call chocolate ¨chalk¨ which seriously makes me laugh every time. You love to paint your nails and toenails (actually I paint them) and you say ¨LOOK mama PRETTY!¨ You eat everything in sight! You are so caring and if anyone is crying you say, ¨It´s ok, don´t cry.¨ Thank you for letting us love you every day! Mama

Happy Mothers day!

Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs... since the payment is pure love. ~Mildred B. Vermont If you have a mom, there is nowhere you are likely to go where a prayer has not already been. ~Robert Brault Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while, but their hearts forever. ~Author Unknown The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new. ~Rajneesh Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. ~Elizabeth Stone There is only one pretty child in the world, and every mother has it. ~Chinese Proverb Here are some of my favorite quote I found about being a mother. First off, happy mothers day to my mom Linda. Love ya mom! Second, thanks be to HIM for giving me the chance to see what it´s like to feel so much love. Love to my monkey, Nora. Enjoy your day mamas!

People stand too close in line here. It kind of drives me bonkers. It´s like they don´t even stand behind you in the line but BESIDE you, so it makes it super awkward! All that Latino blood = no patience! It´s starting to get HOT here. Lord help me!

May 3

Happy Birthday to my grandma today in heaven. It´s been almost a year since her passing and I miss her so much. Happy birthday grandma! It´s neat because my friend had her baby today so the cycle of life continues! I went to see their bundle in the hospital and got just the right dosage of newborn crack that I needed. It´s heavenly. Really. Tiny Toes. Tiny Hands. Tiny Mouth. Tiny Nose. Scrunched in a Ball. Delicious crack.

Jet Setters

Hollywood has always amazed me for many reasons. Now it amazes me for a few different reasons... 1. Shedding baby weight in a week. How is this even possible? Antonio and I are convinced they do a little ¨Nipping and Tucking¨ before leaving the hospital. I breastfed for a year and a half and the weight didn´t ¨fall off¨ in a week, so what´s your next tip Hollywood? I ain´t buying it. 2. I once heard an actor on a daytime talk show actually admit that he and his wife not only had a few daytime nannies but they had also hired a ¨night nurse¨ which fed and took care of the baby during the entire night. Ok, so why did you have kids again if you were going to hire other people to take care of it around the clock? Maybe that´s how the weight came off because they had PLENTY of time to go to the gym, not to mention their personal trainers and cooks... 3. Do Hollywood kids have no schedules? One day their parents have them in L.A. the next Paris, the next Thailand and then the next Africa. W.T.F. Holy Shi: that´s a lot of flying and HELLO time changes? Their poor little bodies have to be ALL whacked out. I guess that´s where those night nurses come in VERY handy....

naughty grandmas.

http://youtu.be/5mYbLFD_BwE This is a really funny video of grandmas watching the Kim K sex tape (and NO you can´t see the tape). Darn.

moneybags

It amazes me that A and I used to complain about airplane tickets costing 500 bucks round trip. If I would have known then what I know now I would have been coming to Spain every other weekend. Apparently the airlines can keep raising their prices so that no one will ever be able to travel ever again. I am coming home alone this summer for a short 2 week trip in July because the tickets were 1400 dollars a person and since N has to pay full price that´s like a jillion dollars. Did I mention my husband hasn´t been working for 26 months? I hate airlines, flying and money.
