Interesting.

I thought crosswalks were specifically set up for pedestrians to cross the street safely and that cars stopped for these pedestrians so they did not get killed. Apparently I was wrong. Yesterday I was crossing and a guy SLAMMED on his breaks not to kill me. I gave him the meanest look I could muster and ¨the shrug¨ I finished crossing the street. The car stopped. He rolled down his window and called me. ¨ASS HOLE¨ in spanish. That was nice. I couldn´t believe it, but then again I could. Some people are just so incredibly rude, it´s pathetic. I am not going to lie, yelling and fighting in Spanish is really fun for me. I didn´t cuss or anything I just said something like, ¨Oh, now it´s my fault? Weren´t you in a hurry? GET GOING!¨ ha! Whatever. I know I should ¨kill them with kindness¨ but in the heat of the moment I just remember the ¨kill them ¨part.....

Ignorance.

I just read an article about a lady in my hometown that was kicked out of a restaurant for breastfeeding. I don´t even know where to begin my ranting and raging. Are people really this ignorant and stupid? All that women hear from the beginning is ¨breast is best.¨ How hypocritical can Americans be? I have to say, after living in Europe for eight years sometimes it is tough going back to the U.S.A with SO many RULES and RESTRICTIONS and CENSORSHIP it´s like people are not even allowed to think for themselves. Europe is much more liberal and free when it comes to things like that, and for that I am grateful. How can it be OKAY for a woman to get kicked out of a restaurant for giving her child nutrition and FOOD?! It makes absolutely 0 sense to me. I´m just glad that when I was breastfeeding N for 18 mths NO ONE ever said anything to me. Good thing. They would probably be dead.

Yippee!

It´s almost May! How did that happen? I am getting excited for summer vacation. My parents have not seen N for an entire year. Sad, isn´t it? But, time goes fast and it will be July before we know it. The weather is miraculously chilly here...50s in late April....not normal! BUT I will take it! I am not ready for 90 degree weather, that´s for sure. Work work and more work. Nothing new other than my toddler is driving me to drink. Pretty standard really. Her favorite line is, ¨I´m so sorry mommy, I love you a lot.¨ And then she makes that face. You know, the ¨You can´t be mad at this face, face¨ ha! Have a fabulous week. Hope you don´t have a case of the MUndays.

When in Rome...

So, the hubs and I just took a Wed-Sat trip to Rome. It was pretty much amaze balls. I had been to Rome about 11 years ago, but A has never been and it´s a place that you can go a million times and want to go more. It was a short two hour and forty minute flight. Then about 45 minutes to downtown on a bus. Boy was that a trip. CRAZIEST.DRIVERS.EVER. I thought we were all dead. They also do not stop when you cross the street. I thought each time was my last. We stayed in the cutest, cleanest and amazing location B and B ever. Our host was actually Asian. Go figure. I would definitely stay there again if we go back. The first day was spent walking a total of ten hours and seeing the Colliseum and that entire area. The second day looked a lot like the first but walking in the Vatican area. We bought a ticket for the hop on hop off bus and waited in line and TWO buses came (they come every twenty min) and each time two people got on. Screw that! So we walked! About 40 min to the vatican. For us that is not a long walk at all. It´s astounding really how old everything is. Amazing. I liked walking down the streets with stores like Prada, D and G, L Vouitton etc. and pretending like I have money. Those stores are so damn intimidating. You look in, the store is always usually empty and there are four store clerks standing at the entrance with black suits on. Ok, because that makes me want to come in. What DID make me want to go into Burberry was the tray of champaign flutes the guy was holding. There was a gov building with huge steps and there were two policemen blowing their whistle constantly because you could NOT sit down or stop at all. This one lady tripped, fell, sprained her ankle so was sitting down and the guy whistled at her! HA! NUTS! I was walking on the sidewalk and this weird, homeless freaky lady PEED right when I walked by. Prob the weirdest thing I have ever seen. Oh, there was a peeping Tom at my hotel. Our bathroom had a thin curtain on the window and I realized the last night this dude had been watching me every night. How disgusting! He did not get a show the last night. I practially showered in the dark! I saw a guy cover up a nostril and blow as hard as he could, and then continue working. I puked in my mouth a little. Oh the things you see when you travel the world. Ciao Italy, land of Converse, Smart cars, Gelato and the best GD pizza in the world. Until next time!

hmm.

I miss the days when putting N to bed was easy. Night night. Bed. Lights off and that was it. She has been officially rolling around for almost two hours now (I can see her on the monitor) and she doesn't seem to be tired at all. This could be due to the fact that the time changed yesterday so she is in bed an hour earlier. But basically she has been doing this for the past several months. First of all it seems like a nightmare to even get her into bed because SHE has to do everything herself ie. turn on the fan, turn off the lights, have the blankets just right, etc. Then once we finally do say goodnight we have to go back in what seems like a zillion times because her stuffed animal "fell" out of her bed or " I'm a little bit scared Mommy" and the list goes on and on. I seriously want to go to sleep most days before her! She is NON STOP action all day too. I do not know where she gets it from and I can't figure out why she is not tired at night. Even when she has swimming lessons two days a week you would think she would just climb in and konk out. Nope. Still rolls around for an hour. We thought maybe taking her nap out (which is only like an hour or an hour and a half) but ya, we changed our mind when she didn't nap once time last week and had the WORST MELTDOWN in the history of meltdowns. She wanted a bath, but I wanted to give her a quick shower because it was late so she jumped up and down and cried for a good forty five minutes screaming I WANT A TUBBY over and over and over again. I'm convinced they reach a point when they are just out of their minds and don't even know what they are doing anymore. Aside from being a nut she did have a fun Easter and thank you nana for the Dora paint book. She is VERY into play do these days and can play with it all day long! She also loves puzzles, books, coloring, and playing with her memory game. We had Wed to Sun off last week for Holy Week and it rained THE ENTIRE TIME. I was actually ready to go back to work today because when it rains in this city there is nothing to do! Did I mention I got a new job? I am on the website now! You can see it at HOLAUSA.es and if you look under " quienes somos" you shall see moi. Too bad it's all in Spanish, but hey, you should probably learn it if you haven't by now. We are off to Rome in two weeks...can't wait to eat pizza and gelatto until I pop. Adioooos
