In T-2 days Nora and I will be leaving on a jet plane at 7am headed to Madrid. Then on a bigger longer flight to good olé Chicago.....then in a car for two and a half hours to good ole´ IN.

Susie's visit

Last week my friend Susie came to visit and we had so much fun. She stopped in Sevilla before heading to Barcelona to visit her daughter. Nora loved her that's for sure! Here are a few pix from when she was here.......Thanks for visiting Susie *and bringing me pop tarts!!

I was just waiting for someone to ask me if I was pregnant and sadly folks, that day has arrived. I did not, however, expect someone to ask me WHILE I was carrying Nora in the baby bjorn. Seriously. Way to kick a girl when she´s down.

my first time yelling at nora and i made her cry (and then i cried) she keeps biting me while i feed her. not good. everyone tells me to say ¨no¨ and i keep doing that...but she´s not getting it. she´s also only 4 mths old. most babies don´t get their teeth until 7 mths. damn teeth.

hell on earth

is when i go to the hair salon. seriously. hell. i prefer giving birth than the pain of the hair salon. i don't know why, but ever since i was a little girl i've always has the most sensitive head on the planet. with all of the brushing, and highlighting, and scrubbing of the scalp i just want to cry.......and have been known to shed a tear or two at the salon. ridiculous? yes. can it be helped? no. i might turn amish just so i don't have to cut my hair EVER again.

hillbilly vasectomy

After their 11th child, a hillbilly couple decided that was enough, as they could not afford a larger bed.

So the husband went to his veterinarian and told him that he and his cousin didn't want to have any more children.

The doctor told him that there was a procedure called a vasectomy that could fix the problem but that it was expensive.

'A less costly alternative, ' said the doctor, 'is to go home, get a cherry bomb, (fireworks are legal in hillbilly country) light it, put it in a beer can, then hold the can up to your ear and count to 10.'

The hillbilly said to the doctor,

'I may not be the smartest tool in the shed, but I don't see how putting a cherry bomb in a beer can next to my ear is going to help me.'

'Trust me,' said the doctor.

So the man went home, lit a cherry bomb and put it in a beer can. He held the can up to his ear and began to count!

I didn't think I was. On the Ave. that we walk down everyday there has been a ladder placed on the roof to the street. The only way to get around is to walk under it or walk around on the bike path. I just can't bring myself to walk under it. Antonio was like, "I'm going under with the baby" and I screamed, " NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" like he was about to walk into oncoming traffic. Weird how that works since I'm not even superstitious........or so I thought!

4 months!

My Dearest Nora,
Today you turn 4 months old! You are more fun with each passing day! You are weighing in at 17.5 lbs and are quite the talk of the neighborhood. Everyone stops us to squeeze your thighs and little chunky cheeks. Of course no one can believe you are only 4 mths old. You have been holding your head up and standing up for quite some time now!

I think the biggest news this month is that you have two bottom teeth!!! You have been slobbering up a storm, but other than that you haven´t even been fussy! You do like to bite mommy which is no fun....I´m going to have to teach you NO at a very early age!

You still love cartoons and hanging out outside! This month we bought you a baby pool and you love splashing around. You look adorable in your tiny bikini!

My friend Susie came to visit and you absolutely loved her. We went downtown a few times and you even met Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. A lady from the movie even said, ¨how cute¨ when she saw you. You draw everyone´s attention!

You laugh and smile all of the time and now you want to grab on to absolutely everything...including my hair which hurts! When I am feeding you it´s almost like we are on the edge of Mt. Everest and you think you might fall off at anytime......you have a death grip on my bra!

You are such an amazing sleeper (10-815) and you take 3 naps during the day. You have gotten very good at falling asleep by yourself. I put you in your crib and you chat to yourself for a minute or two and then you are zonked out. I laugh because I always put you in the middle of the crib and everytime I check on you you have scooted to the corner (diagonal) and are holding on to the matress with that same death grip!

You had your 4 month shots yesterday and I made grandma and daddy take you.I just can´t stand seeing you in pain!

You love to blow bubbles and you especially love it when we take you out in the baby bjorn. You discover new things everyday and I love watching you. I probably kiss you 8000 times a day and you laugh when I nuzzle your tummy.

You have brought so much joy and happiness not only to our family but to everyone around you too. You truly are such a special and beautiful little girl and we love doing life with you. Happy 4 months monkey butt!

before the day so we can include it in our agenda,
but we can adjust it for other events in the last minute?

how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others;
but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?

how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say but....
we question the words in the Bible?

how everyone wants a place in heaven but...
they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?

how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded right away but
when we are going to send messages about God,
we think about it twice before we share it with others?

Spain is playing today! YES!

It´s been a busy few days. My friend Susie stopped in Sevilla on the way to visit her daughter in Barcelona so I had fun showing her around for a few days. (Thanks for the Pop Tarts Susie!)

Nora had her four mth appointment and has her shots today. Boo hiss. She´s 17.5 lbs and the other day I discovered she has TWO TEETH!!!! (breastfeeding and teething totally sucks) but I´m gonna stick with it! (If she doesn´t bite my nipple off).

This morning we saw Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise downtown Sevilla. It was SOOOOO cool and Cameron is soooooo pretty! It´s so weird when you actually see a celebrity in person vs. the TV. It´s almost like you put them in this box convincing yourself they don´t even really exist. I guess they do:)

When is the last time you laughed so hard you cried? I just did and it was great......hadn´t done that in awhile. I was mopping the floor and decided to sing Antonio a solo and I thought it was the funniest thing in the world. It´s like the slap happy monster took over and I couldn´t get a grip for a good five minutes. Tears were streaming down my face and Antonio prob thinks I am psycho, but he loves me anyways. I felt like I was in highschool again. For some reason, particularly in highschool I would always laugh so hard in my classes that I almost wet myself (and possibly did on occassion).

Maybe I just needed to let go and laugh like the good ole´ days.
Or maybe it was the half a bag of peanut m & m´s I´d eaten a few minutes before..

Love thy neighbor.......

is sometimes easier said than done!

Remember when I talked about our neighbor that was always dancing flamenco until 3am because she had to practice? Guess what? They moved! Cool right? Wrong! Now all of these Moroccan students moved in and they like to party like it's 1999 constantly. With loud music and dancing. Constantly.

Our neighborhood is 90 percent students and it's actually really annoying because who knew students were so LOUD and ANNOYING?!

Did I mention ANNOYING?

So, at 130 am yesterday as I stared at the ceiling inviting sleep to overtake me I hear super loud music, laughter, and stomping feet. What the heck were they doing up there? It sounded like they were playing that dancing game with the wii or something. Of course Nora and Antonio were sound asleep. This isn't fair! Why am I always awake? Someone had to be awake w me....so I nudged Antonio. "DO SOMETHING!" I said.

Here it is just SOOOOOOO different when you have loud noises because in the USA you call the cops and they are there lickity split. Here they would laugh in your face and if you go tell the people who are making loud noises to stop they usually laugh in your face too and just turn the music up!

So, around 2am I finally convinced Antonio to march his little bootie up there. And they stopped. He said his hand still hurts today from pounding on the door so hard. He told them that it was past 12 and that there are other neighbors. YES !That's what I like to see. A's testosterone boiling over and his big set of ........being put to good use. Sexy! And........it worked!

Yesterday when we were driving to the campo I saw a cloud that had a rainbow in it. I thought it was my sunglasses playing a trick on me but it wasn't. A perfectly normal cloud (just one in the sky) and all of the colors of the rainbow in it ROYGBV...I asked Antonio to check it out just to make sure I wasn't seeing things and he saw it too! Have you ever seen anything like that? It was pretty awesome.


Speaking of awesome........today we had a celebrity sighting. It's a Spanish TV show though, and a Spanish man....so prob not so cool for anyone but us! ha!

just weighed nora. 17.5 lbs at 3.5 mths. this kid is huge! i love it!

so, we haven't had water in our apt since Fri. i guess a tube is broken and it's not being fixed until monday. pretty awesome. you don't realize how much you actually use water throughout the day until there is none.....washing your hands, taking a shower, washing a plate, washing your face, rinse something off, laundry, dishwasher. nora had a nice blowout this morning and there was poop all over the sheets, her, me, and everywhere. that's fun cleaning with no water let me tell you. good times had by all. i'm already expecting her to do that on the plane too.

we've been heading to the summer house and nora has been rocking out her bikini. we bought her a mini pool and she seems to like it. thank goodness we can at least get a shower there!

DEATH TO ALL COCKROACHES!

Did I mention I hate and am completely terrified of cockroaches? It's in the upper 90s so guess who likes to come out and play when it gets extra hot?

I am cleaning the house and on my way out of Nora's room I saw one and then I just stood there paralyzed in fear with my skin crawling.

I literally had goosebumps and chills. We got this thing that you plug in that's supposed to have a high pitch sound that they hate...so now when I see them they are upside down......but still moving their legs..at least I don't have to catch them.

So, I was hunkered down in the corner of Nora's room (Too bad I'm always alone when they decide to come around) and I screamed a few times and then just stood there again. I had to get the house clean/leave Nora's room. What to do?

Then I gave myself a pep talk. It went something like this, "OK Sara, you gave birth you can surely handle killing a cockroach. God, why did you create cockroaches? I really don't see their use? Can you please kill all cockroaches and mosquitoes at once?" Then, I grabbed the can of spray and sprayed the CRAP out of it.......I think his legs came off........and then I threw some of Nora's wipes over it........and there it stays until Antonio gets home. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

A few weeks ago I started to read a book called "Blonde" and it's about Marilyn Monroe. I am still reading it and am a tiny bit obsessed and started looking up pictures of her today and realized she was born June 1st. So, here's to you Norma Jean Baker. You were one beautiful, crazy, whacked out, scandalous biznatch who made a name for herself. Heck, people are still talking about you and trying to look like you in 2010.

Whether it was all those husbands, that blonde hair, those lips, or those curves..you got everyone's attention.
