TGIF!

It´s Friday! I swear I do not know where the weeks go to. I have two jobs now, so most nights I am working until nine or nine thirty. I am with N most mornings and then when I am not working at night I´m at the gym. Uff. Busy! It´s almost December. yay! The glorious month in which I graced all of the world with my wonderful self. HA Sagittarius, baby! Lots of fun things to look forward to..not really looking forward to being THIRTY TWO, but hey, birthdays are kinda fun. Also, the 19th I´m heading to AMERICA. Yipee. So excited and I can´t wait to stuff my face with a zillion X mas cookies and eat everything fattening. There better be snow..or else! In Nora land...She doesn´t really get the whole ¨options thing.¨ ¨Nora, do you want the red or blue sox?¨ ¨ The pink ones mommy.¨ Makes me laugh every time. Yesterday I bought her a new belt and she said, ¨I love my new seatbelt, mommy.¨ The way she describes things is so funny! I never thought I´d say this, but I kinda miss diapers! I´m exhausted and feel like I have a newborn again..she wakes up like three times a night to pee ...and we have a diaper on her at night just in case. I kinda wish she would just pee in it. ha! Oh well. My girl is big. Almost three. It´s UNbelievable. Time to make a new one. HA! xo

Manuel

For as long as I remember I passed Manuel pretty much on a daily basis. He was a homeless man that lived in front of a store. He had two dogs and always said, ¨Hi Pretty¨ to Nora when we passed. He was the sweetest man and I´d always help him out when I could. This morning on our walk as we were nearing the store that he sat in front of I saw a different woman standing there with his dogs, a huge boquet of flowers and several candles and notes to Manuel.I guess he died;( I´m not sure the details, but I´m sure a life on the street can´t be easy. So many people were leaving him flowers and notes, it was just so sad. I doubt he ever knew so many people really did care about him. I hope he is in a better place now with a warm bed and a full belly... You will be missed Manuel!

Thanksgiving

I´m thankful for the obvious things: God, family, friends, health, food to eat, a roof over my head, and a job I kind of like. The little things:the way Starbucks coffee makes me feel like I´m at home, even if it´s just for a few minutes, beautiful weather and being able to ride my bike to work every day, laughter, New Girl, music, literature, coloring books, wagging tails, and more. I´m thankful for the 8 Thanksgiving´s I´ve spent here so far. For the friendships I´ve made and the ability to adapt as best as I can. Thank you Lord for your blessings, and bless you, my friends, on this wonderful Thanksgiving day.

It caught up with me!

I woke up last night puking and pooping all at the same time. It was super fun. Today Nora said, ¨Mommy, does your tummy hurt? You poor little thing.¨ And then her abuela came over and she said, ¨Abuela, mama esta malita.¨ She cracks me up in both languages. Good thing I have her to keep me laughing through these tough times!

It felt good to catch up on my sleep. The night before last I slept for a grand total of two hours. Around midnight I heard whimpering coming from N´s room so I went in and pretty quickly realized she was going to vom. How can this be? Wasn´t she just sick two weeks ago? So, I put my hands in front of her mouth. Have you ever held vomit in your hands? It´s pretty amazing. Too bad my hands are not nearly big enough to hold all that came out of her tiny tummy. Why is that that 1)she always pukes at around midnight 2) its always in her bed So, operation clean up started. Getting her in the bath, stripping the bed, etc. I couldn´t just throw the sheets etc in the wash without pre-washing so I was literally scooping puke off the sheets and putting it into the toilet. From 12 to 6 she was throwing up, but luckily I taught her how to say PUKE MOMMY and I went running and ran her to the toilet. Oh, the joys!

Overheard

Today N was playing with her four plastic turtles in the bath and I heard her say. ¨Naughty turtle! Did you get dirty? Time out!...Good Job!¨ I have no idea where she heard all that stuff at.........ok, maybe I know, but I´ve never sent her to time out for getting dirty...not yet anyways!

Holy rainy weekend!

It has been raining a lot lately especially for Sevilla! This means boring all the way because there is nothing to do. Yesterday we went to Ikea and bought N some paint and brushes. She loves it. She really loves art and music. Dolls on the other hand not so much. I showed her one of my cabbage patch kids from when I was little and I thought she was going to throw it against the wall! Anyways, so today I was in the kitchen eating pretzels and she came in and we sat down right there on the kitchen floor and had a ¨picnic¨ It was just so cute I will probably remember it forever! On the potty training front...it´s done! The bottom line is when your kid is ready it´s a snap, when they are not don not even bother! Tic-Tacs and Dora undies were her insentive. She was having 0 accidents by day 3. Yay for saving money! It´s kind of a bitter sweet moment as a parent because they seem so BIG once they stop wearing diapers. Prob in the spring we are going to change her room into a ´big girl¨ room. I might cry. Anywho, back to the grind!
